[UPDATE] How to Fix Forza Horizon 4 Freeze

Forza Horizon 4 recently experienced a freeze after playing for approximately 15-25 minutes. The freeze happened because of an incompatible driver. What causes Forza Horizon 4 to freeze is the NVIDIA driver. Here's how to fix Forza Horizon 4 Freeze

If you are currently using NVIDIA driver version 528.49, then the driver is not compatible with Forza Horizon 4 game. Then you take the initiative to update the driver. The driver update page states that the latest version fixes the Forza Horizon 4 Freeze bug. After the update, the latest version did not give any results.

The problematic NVIDIA Driver versions are versions 528.49 and 531.18. And the latest version of NVIDIA is currently 531.18.

There are 2 ways to check the NVIDIA driver version:

• Using Device Manager

1. Press Windows + S, type Device Manager, then open it

2. Click Display Adapters > NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30xx

3. Click the Driver tab

• Using GeForce Experience software

1. Press Windows + S, type GeForce Experience

2. Click the Driver tab

If you want to play Forza Horizon 4 without any problems, what you can do is downgrade the driver to a version below the problematic driver version (528.49 and 531.18).

How to Fix Forza Horizon 4 Freeze

1. Press Windows + S, type Device Manager, then open it

4. Click Roll Back Driver

If the Roll Back Driver button cannot be clicked

1. Download the driver first on the NVIDIA Driver Downloads webpage.
2. If it has been downloaded, run the driver file
3. Follow the steps, if there is writing like the following "You are installing an older driver version. The system may install a newer version when the computer is docked or undocked" Click Continue
4. When the driver installation process is complete, check the driver version in the GeForce Experience software. The installed driver is an older version, and the previously installed version will be removed automatically.

*If you check the driver version using Device Manager, it is possible that the driver version has not changed, but an older version of the driver has been installed, and the driver is still working.

If changing the driver version does not resolve

You may need to update to the latest Forza Horizon 4 version on Steam (if you purchased it on Steam).

 

[UPDATE] - 26 March 2023

-In driver versions below 528.49, there is a problem with the controller, the problem is the delay on the controller, if you move the stick to steer or up/downshift (if in manual mode) there will be a slight delay. This is really very annoying when playing.

-NVIDIA announced the latest driver version on March 23, 2023 for the RTX 30XX GPU series, version 531.41. It is unfortunate that this latest version of the driver does not provide a solution to the Forza Horizon 4 Freeze problem if played in approximately 15-30 minutes.

[UPDATE] - 04 April 2023

-Forza Horizon 4 game is getting an update for Steam software, which fixes Freeze issues for NVIDIA Driver users.

-You can now play Forza Horizon 4 without freezing issues on any NVIDIA driver version, both old and new. It is recommended to stick with the latest driver version to play smoothly.

For the Forza Horizon 4 Freeze issue after playing for 15-30 minutes I think the problem is solved. Enjoy the game!
